Festive vibes coming your way at Jail Yard Grub

Jail Yard Grub at Xmas takes over Stirling Old Town Jail on December 2/3rd

It’s well into November and so perfectly reasonable to start discussing tinsel, Xmas jumpers and the big man in red.

At Harbro HQ we’ve been feeling festive for months now, taking deliveries of Santa hats, fairy lights and candy canes in preparation for Jail Yard Grub at Xmas – which is now just over a week away. The street food festival combines the best vendors from the Scottish catering scene dishing up snacks, meals and drinks from vehicles as varied as a 1970s horse box, to a swanky catering trailer and a quirky coffee pod trailer.

We can’t wait and hope the foodies of Stirling and Falkirk will support this event so we can make Jail Yard Grub a regular event and put Stirling on the street food map. Glasgow and Edinburgh have several street food festivals throughout the year and we think it’s past time central Scotland got in on the act too.

We have a great line up of vendors: Coffee Perch, Wild Fire Pizza, Fallen Brewing, Prime Street Food, Sharma’s Street Food, Bruadair, Stirling Gin, Tastes Like Crepe, Party Box and Gastro Grilla. All businesses specialise in different cuisine so wether you fancy grilled Scottish salmon, a hearty curry or a freshly grilled quarter pounder, you’ll be well catered for.

Entry is just £2 and under 10 are free – plus the first 50 kids through the door each day get a free Santa hat. We are able to accommodate four legged friends and there is a fairground area for kids, including the popular Bumper Carz, and we have some escaped elves from the North Pole patrolling the yard and making sure everyone is on their best behaviour or they’ll report back to Santa. If you’d like a tour of The Old Town Jail and find out more about the facility that locked up thousands of prisoners from 1847 to the 1930s, you can between 10am and 6pm.

The festival is outdoors, so dress up warm, but were have a huge marquee if the weather is typically Scottish. For more info and news check out the event on Facebook.

See you there – with Xmas jumpers on!

*Students free after 5pm
